D4 – Accademia Gallery
Meeting point: entrance of Gallerie dell’Accademia
The Galleries of Accademia are located in an architectural complex made up of several buildings: the church of Santa Maria della Carità, its monastery and the spaces of the devotional Brotherhood of Charity.
In the XV century the church and monastery were remodelled, and then in the XVI the great architect Andrea Palladio brought his contribution. Even in the XVIII century the buildings were remodelled until in 1807 when they were used as the seat of the Academy of Fine Arts with the adjoining Galleries.
The Galleries host 37 rooms (24 on the first floor and 13 on the ground floor) in which is structured an exhibition itinerary that ranges from XIV century to XVIII century painting.
Among the most famous, you may admire absolute masterpieces such as “The Tempest” by Giorgione, paintings by Tiziano, “Saint Orsola series” by Carpaccio and the “Feast in Levi’s House” by Veronese.
