D5 – Peggy Guggenheim Collection
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is hosted in her famous house in Venice. The palace became one of the most important European and American contemporary museums in Italy. Inside are preserved works of art that belong to collections Hannelore B. and Rudolph B. Schulhof. This Museum is located in the famous unfinished XVIII century Venier dei Leoni Palace, facing the Grand Canal. The famous, resourceful Peggy bought it in 1948 and lived there until the end of her life, having opened her beloved collection to the public. Since 1980 Peggy Guggenheim Collection has been organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. This experience will let you admire huge valued works of art, that highlight the development of American Modernism, of Italian Futurism, of Cubism, Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism. Also exhibited are works of Picasso, Pollock.
